I decided that this was a time that we needed to call the person who has cared for and saved all sorts of wild animals.... my mom. And so Aidan picked up the phone and called Grandma. She helped us a lot! In the end we decided that **the mouse would not survive on his own. So Aidan made sure to wash his hands really good before he picked it up (as to not get his scent on the mouse) and then after our brief photo shoot, Aidan put the mouse back where we had found it. We were hoping that the mom would come looking for it that night and take it back to his home. (Don't worry, I had Aidan wash his hands REALLY good when he was done holding the mouse!)
Fast forward to the next morning..... As soon as Aidan woke up, he ran straight for the backyard and down to where we had left the baby mouse.........AND...........THE MOUSE WAS GONE!!!!! Aidan was thrilled!!! He was a little sad that he wouldn't see the mouse again, but happy that he had found his mom. **
**there are a few details that I have left out of this story............... If you are interested in them, come talk with me sometime when there are no little ears around..... ) **
