First Heartache

Well after much thought, last week we decided to sell our beloved truck. We're trying to do the Dave Ramsey thing and we need to find a way to scale back, so this was our answer. We were both a bit bummed because this has been a great truck for us and the boys have really loved it!!

When Kenneth found out that we were going to sell it, he was absolutly heartbroken! I have never seen him like that it was really hard to watch him being so upset. He really didn't want us to sell the "numbers truck." Kenneth calls it the numbers truck, because he loves to watch Andy switch it into different gears (the numbers). It was always special when he would ride in it with Daddy, because Andy had special gum for him in there, and they always had special time together on their way to Joe's Donuts or whatever fun destination they were headed for. It has really been the fun highlight in their father/son time. His heartache almost made us change our mind, but we really talked about it and realized that we can't protect him from heartache, its a natural part of life - and we will make a big effort to replace those special daddy times with other things. Really selling the truck was in the best interest for all of us even though it didn't feel that way to Kenneth. Thankfully after a good nights sleep, Kenneth informed us that he was ok with us selling the numbers truck and that he wasn't sad anymore. Thank you Lord!

I felt so relived that Kenneth was better and that Aidan was too young to really understand what was happening. That was until the buyer showed up to look at the truck and take it for a drive. Kenneth was still fine, but now Aidan lost it! He kept saying "da, da, da, da" i.e. That's Dada's truck why is that strange man driving it away? I guess he understood a bit more about what was going on then I thought. =( Another child and another heartache! Not fun!

Well thankfully both children have recovered. The numbers truck has sold and we are on our way to debt free living.
